Exploring a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have found a variety of entertaining creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a hero that is literally a turd trying to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is simple: just use a jump control. Across 150 stages, encounter tough enemies and access a shop to buy skins for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps with caution, since one error requires starting over. Leap on bubbles to hurl your character higher, cross fragile platforms, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Gather currency to purchase challenging stages in which gameplay intensifies.

In terms of design, the game features neon level designs and catchy soundtrack. Its minimalist graphics featuring morphing basic polygons may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although tough to think of similar titles where you are a piece of feces, interactive entertainment have long incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make grenades from character excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. And of course, this theme shows up heavily in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, including winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is accessible now on Steam, with the full game scheduled to debut on computers in the fall.
